ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The World Bank has stated that it released a record $2.25 billion to Pakistan during the financial year 2023-24, including $350 million as a policy loan.

It is revealed in an official message sent by bank’s Country Director for Pakistan Najy Benhassine to Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema and other senior officials of the ministry.

The message, addressed to Ahad Cheema, said the director “appreciates your personal assistance and leadership, as well as the leadership and efforts of Federal Secretary Kazim Niaz and his team, which ensured significant improvement in the implementation of the World Bank-supported projects and the record disbursement during FY24.”

Benhassine also commended “the leadership of the federal and provincial ministries and departments, as well as the provincial governments” for their strong support in achieving the results.

It may be recalled that $350 million were disbursed from the Resilient Institutions for Sustainable Economy (RISE-II) Development Policy Financing. This is the highest disbursement historically and reflects important and critical results on the ground.
