Govt set to collect another Rs374bn by hiking electricity prices

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The government is all set to hike the already costly electricity's prices as the Central Power Purchasing Agency has proposed to impose another Rs374 billion burden upon the electricity consumers in the upcoming financial year.

Sources says 21.37 percent interest has also been recommended to be charged from the consumers besides it is also proposed to charge up to Rs17.42 per unit in the name of capacity charges.

The CPPA has requested to set fuel cost at Rs9.34 per unit while the companies have been told to sell electricity at the minimum price of Rs27.11 per unit.
