The caretaker government has not replied to the IMF so far

(Web Desk) – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has asked the Pakistan government to lease out or sale the utility stores and other state-owned entities.

Sources said the IMF suggested the government to handover utility stores to the private sector coupled with increasing the budget of BISP. It said the state-owned entities are not in favour of the economy in given economic situation so the utility stores should be closed or be given to the private sector.

They said the caretaker government has not replied to the IMF suggestions. A proposal is also under consideration to increase the BISP budget rather to close the utility stores.

The ministry of industry and production has yet to decide the fate of the utility stores as it is a difficult decision for the caretaker setup.
