Car sales slump by 54pc in last ten months

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Car sales in Pakistan declined by 54% on year-to-year basis in first ten months of current fiscal year.
According to the figures issued by Auto Manufacturers Association, a total of 88,620 units of passenger cars were sold in the country from July to April, which is 54% lower than the corresponding period last fiscal year.
In the identical period last fiscal year, a total of 191,238 units were sold. 2,844 units were sold in April, which is 61% lower than March and 95% lower than April last year.
In March 2023, 7,201 units were sold in the country, and last year’s April, 18,626 units were sold. According to the figures, during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, 41,497 units of 1300cc or more were sold, which is 51% lower than the same period last fiscal year.
During the corresponding period last year, a total of 84,396 units of 1000cc or higher were sold, and in the this year’s same period, a total of 11,531 units of 1000cc power were sold, which is 70% lower than the same period last fiscal year.
According to the figures, during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, 35,592 units of less than 1000cc power were sold, which is 48% lower than the same period last fiscal year. In the same period last fiscal year, a total of 68,678 units of less than 800cc power were sold.
