Pak, IMF to ink agreement soon as issues resolved, says Khurram Dastgir
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Amid fears of a possible default, Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir said on Tuesday that the country had alleviated the concerns of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and hence the agreement with the IMF would take place soon and that was essential for the country to avoid default.
The Minister said the IMF had asked the energy ministry to lessen its losses so that the deficit remained within limit while saying the financial body had not demanded to reduce the defence expenditures.
Mr Dastgir added that the IMF had urged the government to improve its tax sector performance, while saying the losses of State Owned Enterprises needed to be lessened in case of economic prosperity.
