Govt asks IMF to review conditions
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In a bid to revive the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan programme, the centre asked the international lender to review the conditions of the agreement.
Sources privy to the development said Pakistan asked the IMF to review the agreement conditions because the recent flood havoc in the country and global inflation, the government cannot take more tough decisions.
The government can raise revenue without imposing new taxes and will reduce the current account deficit by the end of the year, sources added.
While the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) also presented a plan before the IMF to improve recoveries from tax evaders, under which Pakistan will achieve the target of 7100 billion rupees by improving tax collection.
