Increase in IT exports provided stability to economy: Finance Minister

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin on Wednesday said that economy is moving in the right direction despite several economic challenges face by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

While addressing a press conference, Shaukat Tarin said that withdrawal of America troops from Afghanistan created problems as the neighboring country became completely dependent on Pakistan due to assets freeze.

The minister also said that exports of the country increased 25-29 percent; however, trade deficit increased due to substantial increase in prices of petroleum products in the international market.

Talking about inflation in the country, Shaukat Tarin said that coronavirus pandemic created problems in supply chain which in turn affected the prices of everyday use items; however, the government launched several programs to provide relief to masses during the pandemic.

The minister also said that increase in IT exports provided the much needed stability to economy.
