CCI approves IGCEP model: Hammad Azhar
Issues like excess capacity and expensive power contracts will be avoided in the future: Hammad
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar on Monday said that Council of Common Interests (CCI) has approved Indicative Generation Capacity Expansion Plan (IGCEP) model.
The minister took his official twitter handle, and said that the model will only allow power generation to be added when it is needed (demand-supply projections) and least cost basis (open competitive bidding),
Hammad added that issues like excess capacity and expensive and non-transparent power contracts will be avoided in the future as a result.
He while criticizing the previous government, said that had such a model, which was pending since 2005, been put in place in the past, country could have avoided circular debt and many other problems.
