Govt collecting Rs 47.59 per liter in taxes, duties on petrol
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The new rate of taxes on petroleum products has come into force, with the government levying taxes and duties of Rs 47.59 per liter on petrol and Rs 45.59 per liter on high-speed diesel.
According to sources, the price of petrol is Rs 64.31 per liter but is being sold to the public at Rs 111.90 per liter. The government is collecting Rs 21.04 as petroleum levy, Rs 16.26 as sales tax and Rs 3.7 as dealer’s margin. Not only this, Rs 2.81 per liter distributor margin and Rs 3.78 per liter freight margin is also being collected on petroleum products.
On the other hand, the price of diesel is Rs 70.13 but is sold at Rs 116.08. Petroleum levy on high speed diesel is Rs 22.11 per liter, sales tax is Rs 16.87 per liter, dealer margin is Rs 3.12 per liter, distributor margin is Rs 2.81 per liter and freight margin is Rs 1.04 per liter.
