(Web Desk) – Minister for Economic Affairs Division Muhammad Hammad Azhar has revealed that the current account deficit has reduced by 54.7 per cent in the first two months of the financial year 2019-20.
In a tweet, he said this has led to a saving of US $1.5 billion in the foreign exchange. Azhar said the current account deficit declined by 32 per cent in the previous financial year from $19.8 billion to $13.5 billion.
Rs40,000 prize bonds worth Rs152 billion encashed by Aug 31
Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) on Friday affirmed that the investors of Rs40,000 prize bonds have withdrawn Rs152 billion by August 31, 2019, out of the total stock of Rs259 billion investment from CDNS after the federal government decided to discontinue the specific bond.
The National Savings is expecting that total amount to be drawn by the investors, would be around to Rs194 billion by end of September, out of which Rs40 billion were drawn in July and Rs112 billion in August, senior official of CDNS told APP.
