Revenue crisis arises due to depletion in car purchase

Excise officials said that 25-30 cars being sold monthly as compared to 200-300 cars last year.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Excise department is facing millions of rupees of losses in revenue owing to reduction in the purchase of vehicles after the value of rupee depreciated.

According to excise officials, 25 to 30 vehicles were registered in Lahore in July 2019 as compared to 200 to 300 vehicles being registered every month last year.

On the other hand, the department has not yet overcome the excise smart card and number plate crisis, which has led to the trouble for the citizens.

Due to losses in revenue, the excise department is facing difficulty achieving tax targets whereas officials said that revenue reports are being sent to Secretary Excise every month.
