Power sector revenue surge Rs40 billion in 3 months: Ayub
The minister said special anti-power theft campaign has been launched in interior Sindh, KP and FATA
(Web Desk) – Minister for Power Division Omar Ayub Khan said on Wednesday that power sector revenue has witnessed a surge of Rs40 billion in the last three months, Radio Pakistan reported.
In his talk to the media in Islamabad, he said owing to the efforts of the incumbent government, improvement in the power sector could clearly be observed.
He maintained circular debt would be brought down to Rs225 billion from the current Rs603 billion by the end of the year 2019.
The minister said special anti-power theft campaign has been launched in interior Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and in FATA.
On Monday, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry had said rampant crackdown against power thieves has started showing its positive impact.
In his tweet, the minister said the first information reports (FIRs) had been registered against more than 20,000 people on charges of power pilferage, while at least 2,000 persons including 500 government employees were rounded up in the country wide campaign.
The government has managed to bring down electricity theft and saved Rs42 billion, so far in the campaign, he continued in his tweet.
