Asad Umar announces to present mini budget on Jan 23

The Finance Minister addressed business community at Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Finance Asad Umar on Saturday has announced to present mini budget on January 23.

Talking to business community at Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the minister said that at first, the government had decided to present the mini budget on January 21 but due to some issues, it will now be announced on January 23.

He said that the government is reviewing the suggestions to increase tax and tariff on imports.

Asad Umar said that though it is deplorable to approach International Monetary Fund (IMF), but hopefully it would be last loan Pakistan is going to secure to steer economy out of crisis. 

The Minister said reforms in FBR are being undertaken and its powers have been devolved to lower level and its powers of issuing SRO have been curtailed. He said that any change in current tax structure can only be brought through parliament.

Asad Umar said the government is taking measures to create conducive environment for encouraging Ease of Doing Business and attracting foreign investment to uplift the economy.

Economy is a core component of our foreign policy and we are committed to promote trade and investment in the best interest of the country, he added.

The Finance Minister said uplift of the country’s economy will also increase employment opportunities in the country.  He said that the incumbent government is bringing such type of economy which will uplift the living standard of downtrodden segment of the society through removing all the hurdles in their live.

The Minister said Pakistan is desirous of cordial relation with all countries of the region including India and there is need to resolve all the issues between the two countries through dialogue.

He said Pakistan also wants to increase trade ties with India in the best interest of the both countries.
