Govt issues notification to halt import of furnace oil

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government has issued an official notification to freeze the import of furnace oil, informed a spokesperson of the Petroleum Division.
The authorities have asked refineries to improve the output and quality of petroleum products, and to minimize production of furnace oil.
“Refineries should sign agreements with power companies to store furnace oil and to enhance the storage capacity,” the statement said.
“All refineries should use earnings from deemed duty,” adds the spokesperson for Petroleum Division.
However, it has also been announced that the furnace oil import ban would not be applicable on K-electric.
