Iran to boost electricity exports to Pakistan: official
Iran's electricity to Pakistan is likely to be increased from 100MW to 200MW
(Web Desk) – Iran has shown its willingness to increase electricity exports to Pakistan up to 200 megawatts.
In an interview with Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, after the two-day meeting of Iran-Pakistan electricity committee, Deputy Director of Tavanir Company (Iran s Production and Transfer of Power) Majid Faramad said that Iran s exports of electricity to Pakistan would increase to 200 megawatts.
He said that during the meeting it was agreed that the process to export electricity should be sped up for the implementation of the project.
Faramad added that following a contract signed between Iran and Pakistan several years ago to increase electricity exports, it was agreed in the meeting to complete and execute a 220-kilowatt transmission line between the Pakistan’s Gwadar port and Chabahar port of Iran.
We hope that with the support of the Export Development Bank of Iran, the contract would be carried out by the contractor and the private sector of Iran, as soon as possible, and the amount of exports of Iran s electricity to Pakistan will increase from 100 megawatts to 200 megawatts.
