K-Electric's average tariff cut by Rs2.83 for seven years
The approved tariff is still lower than the old rate.
KARACHI (DUnya News) - The Multi Year Tariff (MYT) for Karachi Electric Ltd has finally been approved for a period of 7 years (starting July’16) against the management’s demand of 10 years.
The new tariff has been approved at Rs 12.77/KwH which is slightly above the tariff finalized earlier at Rs 12.07/KwH. It may be pointed that the approved tariff is still lower than the old rate of Rs 15.6/KwH (applicable in FY16) and the review petition rate filed by KEL at Rs 16.1/KwH.
Against management’s demand, the tariff has been finalized on the basis of cost-plus mechanism rather than performance-based.
