LNG import will likely increase in coming days

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - As energy needs continue to soar, Pakistan witnessed a massive 112pc hike in imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) during July-Nov this year costing around Rs44 billion.

Meanwhile, in same period of previous fiscal year, Pakistan imported LNG worth Rs21 billion.

Likewise, Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) also went through upward trend in import. In July-Nov-2016, with 40 percent hike, Pakistan’s import bill for LPG stood at Rs9 billion.

Analysts says LNG import will likely increase in coming days as the government is rapidly launching new projects to increase electricity production.
