ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has recommended to hike federal excise duty on cigarettes in financial year 2016-17 budget, reported Monday.
According to the recommendation, Rs 200 will be hiked for every 1,000 cigarettes while Rs 450 for another set of 1,000 cigarettes. The imposition of the duty tax will be implemented through two different sets of cigarette brands.
Price of a set will see Rs 4 hike while that of the other, an increase of Rs 9.
On the other hand, the government is likely to lessen taxes on plastic goods. Sales tax for plastic industry, presently is 17 percent which is likely to be reduced to 16 or 15 percent.
Plastic items including pipes, crockery and furniture among others will see a price revision after the development.
