Summary FBR should nab tax-evaders to fill up national treasury, say experts

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Government pocketed Rs 216 billion through general sales tax (GST) in first six months of Fiscal Year (FY) 2015-16 amid falling crude prices, Dunya News reported Monday.

Crude oil prices have fallen 70 percent in the last one and a half years.

Experts have said that the locals are not benefitting off the lessened price of imported fuel as the government has increased GST after lowering prices. Statistics show that the government earned Rs 127 billion in July-December period at local level while Rs 89 percent on import level.

Experts have denounced the government for making oil products a source of earning and cut taxes to relieve the people.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) should nab tax evaders to fill up national treasury, experts added.
