Summary Pakistan will import 3.75 million tons of LNG annually from Qatar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cost around 29 percent lesser in March as compared to February, Dunya News reported Wednesday.

Sources privy to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) stated that the gas cost USD 6.68 per MMBtu inclusive of all expenses.

Whereas in the previous month, the government paid average USD 9.47 per MMBtu. In March, at least 1.42 lac cubic metre LNG was imported from Qatar.

The government had earlier signed a long-term import pact with Qatar in February to balance demand and supply at local level.

Under the agreement Pakistan will import 3.75 million tons of LNG annually from Qatar which will fulfill twenty percent need of Pakistan.

MOUs for enhancing bilateral cooperation with Qatar in Radio and TV, education, health and academic research were also signed by the two sides.
