Summary 1.70 crore tonne yields would be used for seeds, fodder
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Farmers are expecting bumper wheat yields in the current season with an estimate of 2.60 crore tonne, Dunya News reported Tuesday.
According to Food and Agricultural Organization, the government has maintained price for wheat crop at Rs 1,300 per 40 kilogram (kg).
Farmers have agreed that around 1.70 crore tonne yields would be used for seeds, fodder and personal use while the government would purchase 70 lac tonne wheat for Rs 1,300 per 40 Kg.
The association stated that around 30 lac tonne wheat is there in the storage already and the government is deliberating different purposes that it might serve.
However, it should be mentioned here that exporters community is the only one suffering in this situation as local wheat is costlier than the international rates.
