Government extends date of filing tax returns till March 15

Summary Ishaq Dar explained that the scheme is aimed at increasing the tax net.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The government on Tuesday has announced to extend the date of filing tax returns up to March 15, reported Radio Pakistan.

This was announced by Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar while talking to media after meeting representatives of business community in Islamabad.

The Finance Minister also announced to increase withholding tax on bank transactions from 0.3 percent to 0.4 percent from today.

He urged businessmen to take advantage of the tax compliance scheme.

Ishaq Dar explained that the scheme is aimed at increasing the tax net.

The government on Monday also decided to bring amendment in Banking Recovery Ordinance 2001 pertaining to forgiving loans.

The recommendation will be reviewed by National Assembly’s (NA) standing committee for finance in next session.
