ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Saturday has summoned four-year record of car purchasers from showroom owners and banks.

Sources stated that the board would investigate the means of income and scrutinize funds used to purchase the vehicle.

The process will also separate tax filers and non-filers.

Sources further said that the board is likely to issue notices to the owners.

In December 2015, the government had hiked regulatory duty on import of used cars by ten percent resulting in Rs 95,000 to Rs 2 lac increase per vehicle.

Dealers had said that cars ranging between 1,000-3,000cc would cost Rs 95,000 more while those 1,300-1,500cc would cost Rs 1.35 lac more.

Meanwhile, used cars above 1,600cc till 1,800cc now cost at least Rs 2 lac more after the imposition of revised regulatory duty.
