NEW YORK (AFP) - The dollar advanced against the euro Wednesday following a trove of mostly-solid US economic reports.

Official data showed US consumer spending and personal income each rose 0.3 percent in November.

A read on durable goods orders came in above expectations, thanks to strong defense orders, while new home sales rose somewhat less than expected.

A report from the University of Michigan on consumer sentiment showed a raise compared with last month.

"What we re seeing here is a little bit of a rebound in the dollar after some decent economic data this morning," said Omer Esiner, chief market analyst at Commonwealth Foreign Exchange.

"Overall the data suggests the economy has some relative momentum to go into the end of the year."

Joe Manimbo, senior market analyst at Western Union Business Solutions, said investors avoided big bets ahead the Christmas holiday Friday.

"The few market players around ahead of the holidays showed little appetite to stake meaningful bets, keeping major currencies confined to tight ranges," he said.
