Summary Decision would be formally announced in the coming week, says APTMA chief
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Textile mills’ owners on Tuesday have hinted province-wide closure of industries by the end of December owing to gas, power outages and additional taxes.
All Pakistan Textile Mills Association’s (APTMA) Chairman Amir Fiaz said that at least seventy mills have been shut due to gas and electricity outages. Besides heavy amounts that the government pockets under electricity charges, unnecessary taxes have added to owners’ woes.
The chairman said that the government did not announce a textile package despite promises. On the other hand, long-term planning is not bearing any fruit because of lack of business-friendly environment, he added.
The association leader said that the current situation, if prevails could only lead to closure of industries across the board. He said that decision would be formally announced in the coming week.
APTMA chief has demanded the government to maintain uninterrupted gas supply to industries and lessen power tariff.
