London s benchmark FTSE 100 index jumped 1.22 percent to 6,135.56 points and the Paris CAC 40 leapt 1.41 percent to 4,518.03 compared with Wednesday s close.
Frankfurt s DAX 30 won almost 1.0 percent to 9,757.04 points, with scandal-hit carmaker Volkswagen adding 3.12 percent to 100.80 euros.
