Summary Japan's industrial production shrank 0.8 percent in July
TOKYO (AFP) - Japan s factory output contracted 0.5 percent on-month in August, official data showed on Wednesday, as a slowdown in China weighs on exports.
The reading, weaker than market forecasts for a 1.0 percent rise, came after Japan s industrial production shrank 0.8 percent in July.
The industry ministry also said manufacturers expected output in October would jump 4.4 percent after marginal growth of 0.1 percent in September.
Japan s exports have slowed, raising concerns about the fragile recovery in the world s number three economy as demand falls in neighbouring giant China.
