TOKYO (AFP) - Tokyo stocks ended 0.27 percent higher on Thursday, extending gains a day after the benchmark index closed above 20,000 for the first time in 15 years.

The Nikkei 225 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 53.75 points to finish at 20,187.65, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares climbed 0.19 percent, or 3.08 points, to 1,624.87.
