ZURICH (AFP) - Switzerland s central bank on Wednesday named IMF executive Andrea Maechler as its first ever female board member.

Maechler is currently deputy division chief of the global markets analysis division at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington.

Following her appointment by the Swiss government, she will join the Swiss National Bank s board on July 1 and will become head of the central bank s third division.

Her responsibilities will include money markets and foreign exchange, asset management, banking operations and information technology.
