Summary Shares rise prior to a long holiday.
SHANGHAI (AFP) - Chinese shares were slightly higher in morning trade Friday, the last trading day before a long holiday weekend, as recent gains boosted investor sentiment, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.20 percent, or 4.65 points, to 2,311.51.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged up 0.12 percent, or 1.56 points, to 1,270.12.
