Summary European indices had retreated on Tuesday, with London hit by poorly-received results.
LONDON (AFP) - Europe s main stock markets fell at the start of trading on Wednesday, with London s benchmark FTSE 100 index down 0.18 percent to 6,789.65 points.
Frankfurt s DAX 30 fell 0.24 percent to 9,615.86 points and the Paris CAC 40 slid 0.35 percent to 4,436.59 compared with Tuesday s closing levels.
European indices had retreated on Tuesday, with London hit by poorly-received results from British clothes-to-food retailer Marks & Spencer and mobile phone giant Vodafone.
