India stresses open Pak-India dialogue on MFN status

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Indian High commissioner TCA Raghavan on Tuesday said that Pakistan and India should have open discussion on MFN status, visa policy and land routes to boost bilateral trade.

TCA Raghwan while addressing the Indo-Pak young entrepreneur bilateral conference said that last year bilateral trade between India and Pakistan remained 500 million rupees that should be further enhanced. He said that both sides should hold discussions on different issues to open more trade avenues.

He emphasized to increase the business and trade relations between the two countries.

High commissioner said that Pakistan and India have great human potential therefore there is dire need to harness the abilities of this segment of the society. He said that youth bulge share is sixty percent in both countries if youth of the both countries not made skilled it will be a big disaster.  Although it is a big challenge but we have to done it, Indian High commissioner said.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbassi has said Pakistan and India should remove trade barriers to open more bilateral trade avenues.

While talking to media men after addressing Indo-Pak young entrepreneur bilateral conference, the minister for petroleum said that coming winter season will be tough and CNG stations will not get gas during December, January and February. He said that gas supply to domestic sector is our top priority and government will ensure gas supply to it.

He said that Turkamistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan -India (TAPI) project will not only complete the gas requirements of the country but will enable us to remove trade barriers between Pakistan and India. Khaqan Abbasi said that it is very unfortunate that Pakistan India and Bangladesh have trade barriers that should be dropped.

However, he hoped that future of these countries will be bright new avenues of bilateral trade will be opened. He emphasized that despite traditional discussions both countries should take concrete steps to move ahead. The minister for Petroleum said that once our governments understand the sentiments of the people of both sides all the issues between Pakistan and India will be settled.
