Summary Minister says privatisation to attract new investment and create new jobs.

 

ISLAMABAD (Online) - Minister of State for Privatisation Engr Khurram Dastgir Khan said the process of privatisation will be undertaken with maximum transparency, expertise and due diligence while keeping paramount the interests of the people of Pakistan.


He said this while meeting with Vinay Chawla Acting Coordinator for Economic and Development assistance at US Embassy.


He said that the newly-elected PML-N government is determined to bring better management and efficiency to Pakistan’s economy.


The minister said that this will attract new investment and create new jobs for the people of Pakistan. Privatisation is only one part of this larger agenda to bring prosperity to the country.


US investment into the energy sector, especially in modernizing the infrastructure of electricity distribution was discussed in detail during the meeting.


The minister explained that the authority for privatization originates from Council of Common Interests (CCI) and the operational decisions are made by Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCOP).


Privatisation in the PML-N Government will be undertaken with maximum transparency, expertise and due diligence while keeping paramount the interests of the people of Pakistan.


Vinay Chawla assured the Minister of US technical and advisory support during the privatisation process.
