Summary Aftab Sherpao has said the federal govt should announce a package for reviving the sick industrial.

MARDAN (Web Desk) - Chairman, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Sunday said that the federal government should announce a comprehensive package for reviving the sick industrial units in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing a public meeting in Mardan district, he said his party would take part in the proposed All Party Conference (APC). “We have been invited to the APC and will attend it to give our input regarding the restoration of peace and other issues confronting the nation,” he said.

Coming down hard on the so-called champions of the rights of the Pakhtuns, he said the people voted them out in the May 11 general elections due to their dismal performance. He said the apathy on part of the previous provincial government had compounded the woes of the Pakhtuns who have been exposed to untold miseries.

“They have appointed a commission to pinpoint the causes of their humiliating defeat. It’s not rocket science. They couldn’t deliver so the people rejected them,” he remarked.

The former interior minister said peace was a prerequisite for development so the government should divert its energies to establish long-lasting peace in the country particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Aftab Sherpao called upon the government to set up a trust to rehabilitate the families affected by acts of terrorism. “It is the responsibility of the government to look after the families that have been ravaged by terrorism,” he stressed.

He said his party would actively participate in the by-elections by fielding its candidates for all the vacant seats and would continue to raise voice for the rights of the Pakhtuns at all forums.

On the occasion, prominent political figure Khan Akbar Afridi announced joining the QWP along with scores of his supporters and well-wishers.
