Japan to provide Rs.3.8 billion grant to Pakistan

Summary The Japan government has extended the grant of Rs. 3.8 billion to Pakistan.

 

ISLAMABAD: The grant will go a long way to expand education and awareness among the population living in the rural areas of Pakistan particularly in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan.


The official Notes for the Grant have been exchanged here on Friday in Economic Affairs Division, Javed Iqbal, Secretary, Economic Affairs Division and H.E. Hiroshi Oe, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan signed the Exchange of Notes on behalf of their governments.


The grant has been extended for two projects, “Improvement of Child Health Institute, Karachi” and “Rehabilitation of Medium Wave Radio Broadcasting Network”.

 

These two grant projects will definitely help in enlighten the people of Pakistan, expand education and awareness among the population living in the rural areas of Pakistan particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan as well as will provide the best child health care services in upper and lower part of Sindh province to improve the health and well-being of the poor, disadvantaged and marginalized segments of society.


At the same time, Two Grant Agreements have also been signed by Takatoshi Nishikata, Resident Representative, Japan International Cooperation Agency, Pakistan Office and Afzal Latif, Joint Secretary (Japan), Economic Affairs Division.


It is pertinent to mention here that in 2012, Pakistan and Japan are celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations. This Grant is mutually beneficial for both the countries and will strengthen Pak-Japan friendship and economic cooperation.
