NA body directs cutting sugar price

The Cabinet Standing Committee on Industries and Production termed the current sugar price unjustified. The standing committee directed the federal government to call related officials and sugar mills owners and solve the issue within one day. In the meeting, Chairman Ishaq Dar asked the Ministry of Industries and Production and Senator Haroon Akhtar about the increase in sugar price while it was being sold at Rs 30. Senator Haroon Akhtar could not give satisfactory answer. However, Federal Minister for Industries and Production Manzoor Wattoo said that a strong lobby in the ECC rejected the summary of sugar import.
