ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has intensified its investigation into alleged illegal recruitments in Pakistan Post and other cases involving Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Asad Mahmood, declaring him a deliberate defaulter and an absconder from the investigation after he failed to appear despite being formally summoned.

The FIA's Anti-Corruption Circle has recommended placing Asad Mahmood's name on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) and the stop list.

FIA officials have also recommended converting the ongoing inquiry into a formal criminal case and registering an FIR under relevant legal provisions.

However, he failed to appear before the investigators.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings are also underway against JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Asad Mahmood and other party leaders in corruption-related and other cases.
