(Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Sunday removed Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza Ozgen from his post after the postponement of intermediate examination papers in the district ahead of her scheduled visit on November 10.

In a letter to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi, Ozgen said the deployment of administrative and security personnel could affect the smooth conduct of examinations and cause inconvenience to students.

Reacting to the development, Maryam announced the deputy commissioner's removal with immediate effect, saying she had issued explicit instructions that her visits to districts should not disrupt public activities or cause inconvenience to residents.

"This is a clear disregard for my directions," she said in a post on X.

In a subsequent post, the chief minister shared the transfer notification, directing Ozgen to report to the Punjab Services and General Administration Department for further orders.

Maryam also ordered that the postponed examinations be conducted according to their original schedule on Tuesday, November 10.

The chief minister further directed regional and district police officers, commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure that her visits did not lead to the closure of markets, shops, businesses or other establishments.

She also instructed authorities not to block or seal residential streets or restrict residents' movement in the name of security arrangements.

Maryam emphasised that security measures should remain discreet and must not cause inconvenience, disruption or hardship to the public.

She warned that failure to comply with these instructions would invite strict action.
