(Web Desk) - A British woman has secured two Guinness World Records after producing a scream measuring 105.9 decibels, earning recognition as the world's loudest female town crier and for the loudest shout by an individual in the female category.
Brenda Wilson, who has served as a town crier in Britain since 1987, achieved the record during an official attempt on September 9 by delivering the traditional town-crier call of "Oyez" at a volume of 105.9 decibels.
The word "Oyez", commonly used by town criers to draw public attention before making announcements, means "hear ye" or "listen". It originates from Anglo-Norman or Old French.
Wilson said she did not believe her voice had reached its full potential during the official record attempt.
She began her duties as Peterborough's town crier in 1987 and has remained associated with the profession ever since.
Her achievement has earned her recognition in two separate Guinness World Records categories.
