KARACHI (Dunya News) - Federal Minister and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has called for greater attention and support for Karachi, saying the city that sustains the country should be allowed to survive.

In a statement, Siddiqui said that Karachi is the heart of Pakistan and deserves kindness and fair treatment.

He said his political struggle was neither linked to the feudal system nor hereditary politics.

He added that politics was not a business for him but a form of public service.

Siddiqui further stated that Pakistan's ruling class represents a particular segment of society with which his party has no association.

He said their real competition was with a mindset that opposes education.

Commenting on electricity distribution, the MQM leader alleged that electricity was taken away from the homes of poor people and supplied to affluent areas.

He also criticised K-Electric, saying its electricity was not reaching the homes of the underprivileged.
