KARACHI The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced a winter gas supply schedule on Wednesday, fixing three daily slots for domestic consumers in line with directives from the federal government.
An SSGC spokesperson told Dawn that the schedule applies to household consumers in Sindh and Balochistan and takes effect immediately.
Under the new schedule, gas will be available from 6:30am to 9am for breakfast, 12pm to 2:30pm for lunch, and 6pm to 9pm for dinner. The company published the timings on its website and social media pages, saying it was "prioritising domestic consumers by ensuring supply during meal times."
SSGC customers have not had round-the-clock gas for the past several years. The announcement follows a severe gas crisis in Karachi on Tuesday, when confusion deepened after several conflicting supply schedules, attributed to SSGC, began circulating on social media from Monday.
The utility did not issue a clear, consolidated statement until late Tuesday evening.
