TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has reportedly granted the government special powers to pursue negotiations with the United States aimed at ending the ongoing war between the two countries.
According to Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA, President Masoud Pezeshkian said the government was seeking to resolve the conflict with Washington through dialogue and that the Supreme Leader had delegated certain special powers to the government to facilitate the process.
The Iranian president emphasised that efforts to end the war through diplomatic negotiations were continuing, expressing the government’s commitment to finding a peaceful solution to the conflict.
However, the nature and scope of the powers delegated to the government have not been disclosed.

No final agreement between the two sides has been announced so far, while diplomatic contacts aimed at ending the conflict remain ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Iranian negotiating delegation has returned after holding meetings with mediators in Qatar.
However, a proposed draft agreement remains under consideration, with another round of talks also expected to take place.
Officials said the delegation’s return should not be interpreted as a failure or breakdown of negotiations.
Instead, they explained that the Iranian side had sought additional time to review and deliberate on the proposed draft agreement before proceeding with further discussions.
