Khawaja Asif accused TikToker Patlu of evading the law after a Daska stampede killed two people, calling for accountability and regulation of social media earnings and taxes.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has accused TikToker Patlu of evading the law by using his influence following a stampede in Daska that claimed two lives and left dozens injured, calling for accountability of unchecked social media activities.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Khawaja Asif said the incident in Daska could not be condemned enough.

He said a TikToker known as Patlu had attracted a large crowd by announcing expensive prizes, including substantial cash rewards, at his wedding ceremony.

According to the defence minister, the entire event was staged by the TikToker to generate more income, with the announced prizes serving as an investment and social media earnings being the intended return.

Khawaja Asif said the poverty of the area's underprivileged residents had been ridiculed, while a stampede in the large gathering resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to dozens of others.

He alleged that the TikToker was absconding and using his influence to undermine the enforcement of the law.

The defence minister further warned that unchecked social media could prove extremely harmful to society and the state, stressing that those involved must be held accountable.

He also questioned whether existing tax laws were regulating social media personalities who, according to him, were earning billions of rupees through their online activities.

Khawaja Asif called for scrutiny of their earnings and accountability, raising questions about the regulation and taxation of income generated by social media platforms.
