KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said that Pakistan can no longer afford feudal democracy and dynastic politics, urging people to actively participate in the political process.

Addressing a gathering in Karachi, Siddiqui said the country needed a democratic system whose benefits reached ordinary citizens.

He stressed that national resources must be distributed among the people and political authority transferred to local communities.

He said a parliament in which capitalists represented workers could not be considered truly democratic, adding that the middle class should have the right to represent ordinary citizens.

Siddiqui called for unity among oppressed people against exploitation and praised the MQM workers.

He said the party had challenged what he described as a feudal and illegitimate system, recalling that MQM had demanded the creation of new provinces 45 years ago.

He reiterated the need for provinces based on population and said the issue should now be taken to the streets.

He also referred to the migration of Muslims and Hindus during partition, arguing that displaced communities had lost their ancestral lands on both sides of the border.
