LAHORE (Web Desk) – Former Pakistan Test wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has visited the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where Director of High Performance Aaqib Javed briefed him on various departments of the academy, ongoing development projects and the player development model.

During the visit, Kamran Akmal was informed about the development work being carried out at the NCA and the modern facilities being provided for players' training.

He also inspected the advanced bowling machine installed at the Bob Woolmer Indoor School and appreciated the major development work underway at the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamran Akmal said he was pleased to see that work was now being carried out in a highly professional manner and expressed confidence that it would produce positive results for Pakistan cricket.

He said that when young players were provided with such facilities and a conducive environment, they would receive quality training and improve their skills before moving on to represent their regions and departments.

He also welcomed the establishment of a biomechanics laboratory at the academy and the construction of modern dressing rooms at the LCCA Ground.

Kamran Akmal said he was encouraged to see development work taking place at every level, adding that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was providing full support to the process. He said Pakistan cricket needed such facilities at this stage, while special attention was being given to the development of young players.

On the occasion, Director of High Performance Aaqib Javed said 19 different pitches had been prepared at the LCCA Ground, providing players with opportunities to practise in various playing conditions and improve their abilities.

He further explained that a new practice wicket was prepared every Monday at the National Cricket Academy, allowing players to experience different playing conditions over the following five days.

In addition, a Level One coaching course had been introduced for the best Under-15 players to help develop future cricketers as well as train young coaches.

Aaqib Javed also announced that the PCB would soon inaugurate the High Performance Centre in Peshawar, which would create further opportunities for the development of cricket infrastructure and players across the country.
