NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi has been summoned by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court as a prosecution witness in an alleged Rs2 billion extortion case. The court has directed her to appear on November 2.
According to *The Times of India*, Fatehi has been named as a prosecution witness in the third supplementary chargesheet filed in the case.
The case involves alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who is accused of extorting around Rs2 billion from Aditi Singh, wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh, during 2020 and 2021.
Despite being incarcerated in Delhi’s Rohini Jail, Chandrashekhar allegedly posed as a senior government official and promised Aditi Singh that he would arrange her husband's release from prison in exchange for the money.
Following an investigation into the alleged extortion, the Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) filed a chargesheet under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Fatehi had previously been questioned by the EOW over her alleged links with Chandrashekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paul. Police also recorded her statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
During questioning, the actress told investigators that she had come into contact with Chandrashekhar through his wife. She was also questioned about attending an event in Chennai in December 2020.
