(Web Desk) - Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has responded to criticism over her postpartum weight gain, questioning the pressure on women to return to their pre-pregnancy bodies and stressing that she will focus on fitness on her own terms.
In an interview, Katrina said people are well aware of the physical changes a woman's body undergoes after giving birth. She added that those who continue to judge women for these changes are making a personal choice, despite the widespread availability of information about postpartum recovery.
The actress also challenged the expectation that new mothers should quickly regain their previous appearance, making it clear that she would not allow public opinion to dictate her personal journey.
“Why would I want to go back?” Katrina said, reflecting on her transition into motherhood and describing it as a long-held desire.
She shared that seeing her son, Vihaan, for the first time after childbirth was an indescribable experience. The actress also reflected on the four-year journey she and her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal, had gone through before welcoming their child.
Katrina further explained that she remains conscious of her fitness journey and understands when her body feels at its healthiest and most energetic. However, she emphasised that she would reach her fitness goals at her own pace rather than under pressure from others.
The actress faced online criticism over her postpartum appearance after attending the Ambani family's Ganpati celebrations with Vicky Kaushal. Her response has brought renewed attention to the issue of body-shaming and the unrealistic expectations often placed on women following childbirth.
Katrina and Vicky welcomed their son, Vihaan, on November 7, 2025. The couple married on December 9, 2021, in a private ceremony at Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan.
Katrina made her Bollywood debut with Boom and went on to establish herself as one of the industry's prominent actresses, appearing in films including Partner, Welcome, Singh Is Kinng, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Bang Bang, Phantom and Phone Bhoot.
Her most recent theatrical release was Merry Christmas, directed by Sriram Raghavan, in which she starred opposite Vijay Sethupathi. The film was released in January 2024.
