ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A significant decline has been recorded in terrorist attacks as a result of successful operations conducted by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
According to a new report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), terrorist attacks dropped by approximately sixty-six percent over a five-week period.
The report said the number of attacks fell from 61 recorded between September 18 and 24 to 21 between October 16 and 22.
It also noted a 38 per cent week-on-week decline in militant attacks during October 16-22. The number of people injured in such attacks dropped from 20 in the preceding week to 11 during the same period, representing a 45 per cent decrease.
According to PICSS, security forces conducted 10 operations during which 33 militants were killed.
The report also examined the impact of a leadership dispute within Fitna al-Hindustan and changes in the propaganda strategy of Fitna al-Khawarij on the militant landscape.
The findings highlight a decline in militant activity during the period under review, although security challenges remain in parts of the country.
