PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said the federal government has assured the province of Rs160 billion in funding, adding that additional funds would also be provided if the provincial government makes a further request.
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar alongside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Samar Haroon Bilour, Kundi described Thursday as a significant day in the province’s history, referring to a national Apex Committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The meeting was attended by the prime minister, the field marshal and federal ministers, while the provincial chief secretary briefed participants on the overall situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the governor said.
Kundi added that the meeting discussed the province’s challenges, wheat-related issues and other key matters. He said transparency would be ensured in government postings and transfers, while a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against corruption.
The governor also announced that a special compensation package had been approved for the families of martyrs. He thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the field marshal, saying the government aimed to build a stronger and more developed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Commenting on the performance of government employees, Kundi said officials drawing salaries without performing their duties would be required to fulfil their responsibilities. He stressed that the government must ensure public servants deliver work in return for their salaries.
The governor also highlighted traffic and vehicle registration issues in Peshawar, saying the city had approximately 100,000 rickshaws, of which only 30,000 were registered.
He further warned that no concessions would be given in cases involving encroachments.
