RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has expressed disappointment over the outcome of negotiations with the government, stressing that the ongoing war against terrorism must not be affected by political differences.
Speaking to the media at Dahgal Checkpoint on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi, Barrister Gohar said PTI opposed all forms of terrorism and remained committed to the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).
He said the party had participated in negotiations with the government unconditionally and questioned why the talks were initiated if the government lacked the authority to address the issues under discussion. He maintained that the negotiation process should have continued rather than being abandoned.
Barrister Gohar said PTI's key demands included access to the party's founder, provision of medical treatment for him, and permission for him to speak to his children by telephone.
He added that the government had expressed a desire to discuss terrorism and provincial issues with him, but stressed that dialogue should not have been discontinued.
The PTI chairman also rejected the impression that the party's negotiating committee was receiving instructions from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling the claim false.
Commenting on Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Barrister Gohar said PTI had never questioned his position as opposition leader.
Regarding Mashal Yousafzai, he said she had crossed the line and that a notice would be issued to her. He described her statements as baseless and denied that there was any truth in them.
Barrister Gohar reiterated that PTI remained in favour of implementing the National Action Plan and urged that political disagreements should not undermine efforts to combat terrorism.
